How much data do you get with Salt?

Of course, this depends entirely on the mobile plan you have. For example, subscribers to Salt Plus Start and Salt Plus Basic have limited data allowances of 500 and 3,000 megabytes, respectively. All other adult plans—namely Salt Plus Swiss, Europe, and World—include completely unlimited data. The situation is different for youth plans.

For example, all plans there include unlimited internet, although speeds may be throttled in some cases. This is the case with the Basic plan, for instance. Once you’ve used up your included data allowance at full speed, the speed is automatically reduced, though you can still continue browsing as usual.

Check your Salt data usage

If you want to check your remaining data allowance, simply go to your provider’s website and log in to the customer portal. Once you’ve entered your password and username, you can manage all aspects of your subscription there. Among other things, you can add options there and also check how much data you have left. Of course, this is only possible if you have a limited data plan.

Only then is the query relevant. The Salt Customer Center is available both on your computer and on your smartphone or tablet. On mobile devices, it’s even more convenient to quickly check and manage things on the go. You can also add options or data plans while you’re out and about or abroad.

Buy Salt data plans and data packages

If you have a Salt mobile plan with a limited data allowance and you’ve used up your data, you can, of course, purchase additional data at any time. For 9.95 francs, you get 200 megabytes; one gigabyte costs 19.95 francs, and five gigabytes cost 29.95 francs. These packages are valid until the end of the billing period and can be easily purchased in the Customer Center on your computer or on the go via mobile. However, customers on youth plans can continue browsing in any case, as all Salt youth plans include unlimited data. Only the speed is then throttled.

So if you’ve used up your full-speed data allowance and want more internet with a fast connection, you can of course take advantage of these data packages even as a youth subscriber. Subscribers to senior plans can, of course, also purchase these options at any time, provided their contract does not include unlimited internet. However, it only makes sense to purchase a data package if your data allowance is already very low or will definitely run out before the end of the billing period. This is because the data allowance is valid only until the end of the billing period and cannot be carried over to subsequent months.

Salt Roaming Data Allowance

It’s also very interesting to see how data usage works abroad. Using the internet in other countries—known in technical terms as roaming—typically costs more than it does at home in Switzerland. That’s why it’s worth keeping a close eye on your usage and, for long stays abroad, booking a Salt data package for international use. How much free roaming do Salt customers actually get? That really depends. Do you use Salt Plus Swiss, Europe, or World? In that case, you receive a certain amount of included data for use abroad each month at no extra cost. With the Swiss plan, it’s 200 MB; with Europe, 1,000 MB; and with World, 2,000 MB per month.

The same applies to Swiss plans for teens and seniors, meaning 200 megabytes are available for free use abroad each month. However, customers with all other Salt plans must pay the standard rate for roaming data abroad or order an add-on, which is significantly cheaper for frequent use. You can easily order these add-ons online in the Customer Center. Even when you’re abroad, you can still order additional roaming data. This is no problem at all and can be done quickly online.
