First, you should know that you cannot simply switch providers or cancel your old subscription before the minimum contract term has expired. In most cases, you cannot cancel a subscription during the minimum contract term without incurring a hefty penalty. If you want to switch providers under any circumstances—even if it means paying high fees—you can, of course, do so. Normally, however, you will have to cover a large portion of the subscription costs until the end of the contract term.
Switch plans with the same provider
The situation is different if you simply want to switch plans with the same provider. Most providers allow this, provided the new plan is at a similar price point. While Salt allows customers to switch to a new plan within the provider at any time, Swisscom customers must pay the difference if the new plan is cheaper. However, Swisscom customers can also switch to a more expensive plan at any time without incurring any fees.
