Apple Watch 2 Concept

Apple definitely shook up the smartwatch market earlier this year with the Apple Watch. Even though no sales figures have been released, Apple is already said to account for the majority of the smartwatch market. So it goes without saying that Apple will unveil the next generation of the watch in the spring of 2016. We at Handy Abovergleich have given this some thought and, taking into account various rumors and speculations, have brought our vision of the second Apple Watch to life in a concept design.

New design with built-in camera

At the top of the list of new features is undoubtedly the improved design and the built-in camera of our Apple Watch 2. The design is slightly slimmer than the current model and also features a display with narrower bezels.

But that's not all—the display is also brighter and, of course, larger overall. The screen is even slightly curved toward the sides, which, combined with OLED technology, creates incredibly stunning effects and provides more space for content: this makes watch faces look cleaner and apps look more polished.

We've also built a FaceTime camera right into the display, which lets you take quick selfies and make FaceTime calls. The camera is just as fast as the one on the iPhone 6S and has a resolution of 1.2 megapixels.

New bracelets and materials

Our concept also suggests additional materials for the next Apple Watch. For example, there could be new high-end and mid-range models made from different aluminum and gold alloys or incorporating materials such as platinum and diamond.

New wristbands with built-in sensors

The exciting part, however, starts with the wristbands. These actually have two sensors built right in: one for blood pressure and one that can measure body temperature. The bands use Apple’s Diagnostic Port for power and transmit the data via Bluetooth. Externally, they look almost identical; the sensors are nearly invisible, integrated into the pin.

A new dimension

If it were up to us, the Apple Watch 2 would come in 38mm, 42mm, and, for the first time, a 45mm version. There’s high demand for larger watches, and it definitely makes sense for a smartwatch. This way, it caters to all needs, tastes, and sizes.

New Features

Otherwise, we would like to see better and more reliable water resistance in the upcoming Apple Watch. We would also be very pleased to see the addition of GPS and a more powerful Wi-Fi chip, so that the Apple Watch can function independently to a greater extent, without needing the iPhone at all.
